The Pallet Furniture Comes to Life

This past Sunday, we spent the majority of the day completing our outdoor pallet furniture!  It is about 2 months in the making... but it's finally complete!  Now we are just waiting for some of the cushions to come in and for the rest of the cushions to be sewn (by me... it's my project for tonight...).

We had a pretty good system worked out... Aaron built the furniture, I planned the cushions (and supervised the building with a beer in hand... somebody has to o the tough jobs!), Aaron sanded the furniture, I painted it.  All-in-all, an effective system.  The only downfall was lugging those heavy things back and forth from the backyard to the garage to paint and then back into the back yard.  It was a workout!  Also, I forgot to move my car when I started spray-painting the plastic chairs... so my new project is to figure out how to get all of the over-spray off of my car because it now has a faint sheen of neon green.

These chairs (there are 2... and a mini table that we threw away) were from my internship in college down in Florida.  They'd held up pretty nicely, but with everything else in Kingman being a beige color, they needed a little sprucing.

After the chairs were painted, it seemed like the neon green would be a little one-sided, so we painted the other end table neon green too!  Plus we had extra paint and we are resourceful.

Everything is now in it's place and just the cushions remain!  Then we are planning to celebrate the complete set by hosting a barbecue for July 4th!  It feels good to complete DIY projects... especially when they end up looking like you pictured!
