A Beer Date

Originally, Aaron and I had planned to take the pups down to Lake Havasu for the long weekend. Then we remembered how insanely hot the sand is on those beaches and decided to fly solo and skip the beach.

Our trip turned into a brewery tour date!  We visited the 3 breweries that we knew about in Havasu and tried each one's sampler.  Then Aaron ordered his favorite, we shared an appetizer, and we hung out. It was a nice pseudo-get-away for just the two of us!

First: Barley Brother's Brewery

Favorite Beer: Triple Berry Wheat (and Aaron really liked their IPA - but I forget what it was called)
Appetizer: Tomato Garlic Bruschetta and Bacon Wrapped Scallops

Second: Mudshark Brewery

Favorite Beer: HavaBlue
Appetizer: Cold Spinach Dip

Third: College Street Brewery

Favorite Beer: Jesse's Lager, Sweet Devil Stout and Fraternity of Hops (Aaron only)
Appetizer: White Pizza - not an appetizer, but we were hungry!

Mudshark was disappointing. We'd been there before and remembered their good food (still true), buy also know that besides their seasonal brews, they are pretty cookie-cutter in terms of beers.  They have a lot of basics, but nothing different or new.
College Street was really surprising! It is in the middle of an industrial park, so I'm sure they don't get a ton of random people stopping in... You have to want to go there.  But their beer was delicious and a lot of it was unusual or at least had some good flavors! And that pizza was fantastic... Also they have a really good atmosphere!  We would definitely go back.
Barley Brother's ranked somewhere in the middle. Less of a brewery feel, but good beer and pretty good food!

It was a fabulous date!  And we decided our bucket list is to visit a microbrewery in every state... A goal I can 100% support!
