Sad for Football, Good for Beer!

This weekend was far less hectic than previous weekends (thankfully)!  Aaron golfed in a charity tournament with his dad, Brent, and PopPop.  Apparently they did well, but because of Aaron's perceived abilities, they got put into the first flight of golfers, which were apparently the best golfers.  Oh well.  They had fun!

While he was gone, I watched a movie and napped with the pups.  I have a rough life, clearly.

When he got home, we cleaned the house and then Sam came over to help us enjoy some fall beers and football.  UK won, even though we couldn't watch them (darn SEC network)!  Instead, we watched MSU vs. Oregon.  I couldn't even tell you who won (MSU did, I looked it up)... I was obviously super invested.  MSU's uniforms were pretty stellar though.

The best part of the evening was the fall beer!  South Street's Twisted Gourd, which had a little too bitter in the beginning for me, and Starr Hill's Boxcar Pumpkin Porter, which was not nearly as Pumpkin-y as I would have liked.  Aaron enjoyed his first Great Lakes' Nosferatu of the season (I'm not a fan, but he likes it).  Lucy enjoyed belly rubs from Sam, when he paid attention to her spread-eagle posture...

Sunday rolled around and it was surprisingly sunny (but cold)!  Aaron prepped the back yard while I finished cleaning the house and then right before the games, Aaron decked out the pups in their new Redskins jerseys.  They hate them, but they make Aaron happy, so...

We finally got to meet John's family and Sam brought his family (his sisters and their significant others, no children for Mr. Thomas)!  The guys watched football with Sam's sisters while Julie and I went outside to let the kids run around with the pups.

It was a sad day in football land (as my mother says).  The Redskins lost to the Dolphins and the Browns got obliterated by the Jets.  At least it came with more good beer!  Southern Tier's too- hoppy Pumking, the delicious Schlafly Pumpkin Ale, and the rich and yummy Terrapin Liquid Bliss Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter!

It may not be fall yet, but it was only 65 yesterday, so we can drink fall beers now!  And they are the best!  The Browns?  Not so much... maybe they'll get better... hopefully...
