Furry Updates... and a Brewery

This weekend, we are potentially playing host to about 25 people, including 2 babies, for a Superbowl party!  I thought that I would do a wrap-up of our past few uneventful weeks.  Mostly we just stayed home with the pups.  I got sick and Aaron traveled for work... so we spent our down time relaxing with our furry children!

We went down to visit PopPop after he had his surgery.  On the way home, we stopped by Seven Arrows Brewery near Waynesboro.  It was mediocre - nothing special, but not bad.  We had food truck fish tacos too.  Those were pretty good, but VERY messy.
With the cold weather, we've been spending more time inside watching movies.  Lucy spends most of the movie eyeing the popcorn...
As does Gus.
Lucy is the only dog I know of that will take a nap while Aaron files her nails.  Clipping her nails was a nightmare.  Clipping Gus's was downright impossible.  Filing them?  Like a salon manicure to her...
We cleaned out the basement.  I found my lightsaber.  Aaron chased Gus around the house with it.  Gus loved it.  We are all weird.
It snowed on Sunday night, so in the interest of NOT wiping their paws of 57459827646 times, I let them wrestle inside.  It was an epic battle.
Katie tagged me is a"Take a Selfie" thing on Instagram, so I suckered Gus into taking one with me before I let him go and eat snow outside.  Notice how not-thrilled he is.
This is usually her expression when Aaron decides to pick her up and give her belly rubs.  She's torn between loving belly rubs and not liking being so far off of the ground!

Fur, Friends, and Frigid Weather

We got snow!  Gus LOVED it (mostly just eating it).  Lucy did too until her paws went numb.

Then she would come back inside to warm up...

Closely followed by Gus, who refuses to be outside alone... and who has regained his love of destroying his toys...

Last weekend, Rebecca came to town!  She was in DC for a conference, so we picked her up, hung out on Saturday night and took her back to DC on Sunday.  It was a quick trip, but it was great to see her!  We went to JC Penney to look at the bridesmaid's dress that she chose for her wedding and then we just hung out and chit chatted until it was late and we went to bed (to the tune of Aaron protesting us being lame and old).  Gus loved her... and wanted REALLY badly to lick her face.  She managed to fend him off for the 24 hours she was in our house.  He was disappointed...

And then I headed to Indiana for work... where we braved the arctic tundra for kitchen cabinets... the things we do for a paycheck...

Stay warm, my friends (it's supposed to be nice this weekend)!

Christmas - The Final Chapter

This past weekend, we closed the Christmas season with a visit from my parents!  They came down on New Years Day (after we arrived back home from Drew and Kristen's party - sick, hungover, and sleepy).

We mostly just relaxed all weekend.  We made some delicious pork for New Years - for good luck!  On Friday, I had a vacation day, but Aaron had to work.  My parents and I went shopping and went out to lunch.  When Aaron got home, we went out to dinner and then came back to watch a movie.  We showed my mom Rock of Ages.  She'd been asking to see it.

Then on Saturday, we headed down to Harrisonburg to meet up with Aaron's parents for lunch!  My mom couldn't leave without heading to the JMU bookstore and Aaron couldn't leave without visiting 3 Brother's Brewery.  So after that whole adventure, we headed home to have Christmas!

We did the Christmas shot (which is always terrible, but has to be done... tradition!), shared Oplatki, made the traditional Liggett family 7-course dinner, and opened gifts.

The pups got these enormously huge bones from Santa.  Seriously, as long as Lucy.  Gus devoured most of his and when Lucy snuck in to finish it off (she had just sat, slightly frightened during the entire present-opening event), he just moved onto hers.  24 hours later, the bones were both gone.  It was rather impressive.

I got a bread machine and a pizza stone (among other things), so on Sunday night I made pizza for dinner!  Using the bread machine to make dough and the pizza stone to cook it, it tasted delicious... even if it looks slightly less than appetizing.

So that's that... Christmas part 1, part 2, and part 3... all equally fun and tasty, all celebrated with family.  Merry end-of-Christmas season and Happy New Year!
