Appliances, Cookouts, and Kayaking!

We had a very busy weekend.  Again...

Friday night we went to a cookout at Aaron's former boss's house (they reorganized their department, so he works for somebody else now).  We ate delicious food, sat by a campfire, and drank White Russians!  Those are the best, especially when accompanied by s'mores!

Saturday, we woke up to delivery people calling to say that they were headed over to deliver appliances!  So while they disposed of the old appliances (and in the fridge's case, moved it to the garage to be a beer fridge), I cleaned.  It amazed me how much crap we found underneath everything, but the delivery man assured me that it was actually very clean in comparison to what he's seen.  That made me cringe... and then I cleaned it anyway.

The second round of deliver/installers came and put in our micorwave and dishwasher and we were done!  Brand new fancy schmany appliances that show EVERY fingerprint (Stainless Steel wipes are now on the grocery list) and actually work!  The dishwasher is insanely quiet, the stove has nifty fast/rapid boil burners and isn't covered in baked on junk, the fridge looks so empty because it is HUGE, and the microwave... is the same, but came with the set.  Also,  just wrote a whole paragraph on appliances.  Adult life, I guess.  I'm really cool.

Since we were going to be stuck at home all morning, Aaron decided to smoke some ribs!  We invited Sam and Jeff and Rachel over for a casual cookout.  Corn hole was played, beers were consumed, ribs were eaten.  You know, the usual.

And then corn hole turned into hacky-sack... unsuccessfully.

We also got to enjoy some Arizona beer, courtesy of Joey!  He brought Aaron's favorite summer-time AZ beer - Big Blue Van!  I always liked HavaBlue better, but... I will drink either one in the sunshine!

On Sunday we went kayaking with Sam, Michelle, Jeff, Rachel, and Rachel's friends Kelly and Kate.  It was really fun!  We  all had a double kayaks and we went 7 miles.  It was a very good workout that was probably counteracted by the cooler in the back of the kayak... oh well.  There was some paddling, some floating, some swimming, some yoga-ing (in the kayak, which resulted in the swimming when everybody fell out), and only one casualty... Aaron's sunglasses.  We had a great time and we plan on doing it again sometime!  Hopefully with less resulting soreness...

The Liggett Family Golfs

This past weekend was the annual Liggett family golf outing!  An excuse for  my dad's side of the family to get together, drink, grill, and of course, golf!  They do it every year, but I've never golfed in it (I was always the designated babysitter for young cousins) and I haven't attended it in... 7 years?  Needless to say, it was about darn time I made an appearance...

We headed up on Friday morning and used up a vacation day so that we could detour through Columbus to see Elliott!  The pups did well on the trip, as always, and were SUPER pumped to see their puppy cousins!  Lucy was also very intrigued by the new little man... her dilemma started when she wanted to smell him, but didn't want to get any closer to my sister.  Tough choices.  Eventually, Mike held him out so that she could sniff without getting near to him and she curiously sniffed his head... until Gus bumbled over and started licking his ears.  Then Elliott was no longer on display for the furry family members.

We managed to snag one cheesy picture of us with him before he realized that I did NOT smell like his mom and that he would like to be held by her and not some stranger, thank you very much.  So I gave him back... maybe he will like me next time?

We headed up to my parents for dinner and some post-dinner birthday celebration for Lucy!  She's 2 now!  I made her a puppy cookie and peanut butter stack as a special treat.  Gus got some as well, but his was smaller.  They devoured them... and then didn't eat breakfast the next day. Whoops.

The next morning, we headed to the golf outing!  We played with Uncle Mike and Aunt Lisa.  Noreen and Kevin drove the carts!  Sometimes into benches, trash cans, and trees, but whatever...

It went decently well.  Aaron struggled with his drives, but saved our team with his second shots and putting.  I contributed with short, straight drives that didn't do a whole lot, but weren't in the trees (which was hard because the WHOLE course was trees!).  After the drives, I was essentially worthless since I couldn't keep them straight and hit trees at 7 of the 9 holes.  Oh well.

We were first to finish, so we sat around with some drinks while we slowly heard the final score from each of the rest of the foursomes... and we won!  We finished +1 and we got some fancy golf towels that say "Champion" on them.  They're OSU scarlet, but I suppose that can be overlooked due to the "Champion" written on them. Did I mention that we won?  Cause we did...

We took a big group picture (not pictured - the 5 non-golfers and the 14 that didn't attend this year... we are quite the large group)!

And then headed back for some grilling, some football, and some drinks.  It was a casual outing and we had a really good time!

The cousins that were there took one last group picture before we headed out...

We got home, ordered some wings (because we clearly didn't eat enough there?), and enjoyed a fire on the back porch.  It was a good ending to a nice weekend!

We will definitely be back for this next year... we have to defend our title!
