Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Trick-or-Treating in our new neighborhood starts at 5:30... let's hope that we bought enough candy (and that the handful of pieces that Aaron and I taste-tested aren't missed).

My parent's will show up around 10, so we have a few more hours between work and their arrival to finish up some necessary unpacking.  That will leave only the extra stuff... the office, basement, garage, and dining room.  It should be a good weekend!

It's Official!

So Friday was a huge mess... we were supposed to close at 10am.  US Bank didn't realize until Thursday that our transfers to VA were not confirmed.  Apparently you need to make money in the place where you are living for the bank to consider giving you a loan...

So we FINALLY closed on the house at 3pm.  As of 3:45, we had signed our life (and the largest check I've ever written) away and we were headed to MD for Drew and Kristen's Halloween party! Jessica bought us champagne and we toasted to our new house before the party started!

We had a great time at the party and then we came back just in time to move into the house!

The movers were really quick and then our house (I've been calling it that for a few weeks, but it really is now!) was ready for the pup-inspection.

They sniffed EVERYTHING.  Twice.  Gus was thrilled and Lucy got more and more excited the more she recognized.

We showed them the yard (and their camping 40-ft wires... darn the HOA for making me wait on a fence) and then it was unpacking time.  Lucy tried to help.  She supervised.  She also sat on stuff, but she was not concerned.

Gus did what Gus does best - create chaos.

When we fed them that evening, this was the scene from their food bowls.  Lord help us.

So now there is lots of unpacking, lots of cleaning, and lots of planning for future projects (a fence, mainly).

And here is a random picture of Gus laying in the grass.  It reminded me of the Lion King when Timon, Pumba, and Simba lay in the grass and talk about dead kings/balls of gas.  I love Disney.

Picture Overload

We made it to VA!  We are now cozily holed up in a 1-bedroom hotel suite with 2 dogs, too many clothes for the number of hotel closet hangers, and a cactus.  It hasn't been TOO crazy.  Enjoy my picture-journal of our trip and hotel stay so far...

The moving truck... it was bright and VERY large.  But the crew was awesome and super efficient!

The pups did really well on the trip!  They napped through most of it.

Aaron consumed far too many Red Bulls... his book on tape wasn't nearly as entertaining as he'd hoped.  But we got it at Flying J on a whim, so he shouldn't have expected much.

There was some adorable puppy snuggling in the back seat.  Apparently trying to eat all of the litter in McDonald's parking lots is exhausting...

No worries... we didn't get Ebola.

This is how the trip looked from the driver's seat (don't worry, I yelled at him for taking pictures while driving).  I'm a REALLY good car-sleeper.  Gus and I have that in common.

We stayed with Renee and Mike in Ohio and the pups got to play with their dog-cousins, Ozzy and Jack!  They LOVED it.  And then they slept... it was glorious!

Every time Aaron leaves for work, they stand by the door and whine.  Apparently somebody needs to invent "Take your dog to work day" so that they don't feel so left out.

We went down to Aaron's parents house this past weekend.  The pups ran around, we went to multiple events with FAR too much food, shopped, and relaxed in a non-hotel environment.

Gus loves Max.  Max is indifferent about Gus.  Lucy just likes to watch the shenanigans and then sprint around the yard.

All of the sprinting and Max-admiring makes for sleepy pups (who take over the bed).
Hopefully our hotel stint and homeless-ness is almost over.  We reached an agreement with the sellers on the home repairs and are scheduled to close next Friday!  I can't wait to be in a house.  I'm already planning our decorations, Aaron's to-do list, and my crafts!  It will be nice to be in one place and be done with "temporary living".  Being in a hotel gets old... especially when you have to do laundry, walk pups, and cook dinner (on a cook-top that doesn't boil water).

Until next time...
